We all need to relax at some point in time. We work hard and deserve it. Some activities that invoke serenity, such as a spa massage or a yoga class, last around one hour. Yet, sometimes we need to indulge ourselves during long hours while being pampered by others. A sailing trip might be just what you need.

Water, sunbathing, staring at corals and fish while snorkeling, and being taken care of by a catamaran’s crew may be the formula for pure indulgence. Of course, you need to know which catamaran to choose since the client service will contribute to the quality of your experience.

So far, we have received great service from tour providers, and the experience in Spread Eagle II catamaran was not an exception.

The sun was our partner during our sailing day—beautiful ocean views and islets were seen once we departed from Villa Marina in the Municipality of Fajardo, Puerto Rico. Spread Eagle II’s captain, Orlando Rodríguez, navigated towards Cayo Icacos (Icacos Key), a small island nearby Puerto Rico’s east coast.

The service provided by the captain and the rest of the crew, Dolly García, María González and Emanuel Rodríguez, surpassed our expectations. While feeling the Caribbean breeze and admiring sightseeing views, the crew offered us tropical fruit beverages, such as piña colada (a Puerto Rican drink) and rum punch, among other beverages. Regular alcoholic beverages were available in a cash bar. Pretzels and tortilla chips were among the goodies to dig in.

After a 45-minute navigation, we arrived to Cayo Icacos. The captain pointed the sandy-bottom area good for swimming, and the snorkeling spot. Due to shallow waters in the snorkeling area, Orlando instructed to snorkel along the corals rather than on top of these. This snorkeling spot served better for practice purposes.

Following snorkeling and sunbathing in Cayo Icacos, appetizing food awaited us in the catamaran: pan de agua (local bread similar to a baguette), smoked turkey, ham, pepperoni, white tuna salad, cheeses, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, red onions, and carrots, among others. Fresh tropical fruits, such as watermelon, papaya, grapes, pineapple, oranges and bananas, were perfect to eat during the sunny day. The all-you-can-eat lunch buffet refreshed us to get ready to enjoy the rest of our journey.

At around 1:00 pm, the Spread Eagle II navigated towards the next attraction: an open-water area nearby a small island known as Cayo Lobos (Lobos Key). If you like to merely swim in open water or stare at marine life nearby a reef, this spot awaits you. For those who might get tired of swimming, you are welcome to stay in the boat to sunbathe, chat with others, eat or drink more, or otherwise relax.

We chose to snorkel and explore the marine life nearby Cayo Lobos. We suggest looking at this story’s photo gallery to see some of the fish and corals nearby this small island. The crew kept pampering us after our second snorkeling workout. A pleasing snack was served: green apple slices, cheddar cheese, pepper jack cheese and more pan de agua. Afterwards, we enjoyed a relaxing 45-minute sail on our way back towards Villa Marina.

The crew’s excellent organization, effort to take care of us, and no-hurry attitude during the whole excursion distinguished the Spread Eagle II’s service. We even got to keep the snorkel! Definitely, this sailing trip is worth to discover.
